Book of Revelation - Chapter 13 - Verse 15

13:15

Meaning

The verse you are referring to comes from the book of Revelation in the Bible. In this verse, it describes a powerful entity referred to as the "beast" that has the ability to give life to an image of itself. This image of the beast is said to be able to speak and have the authority to demand worship from people. Those who refuse to worship the image of the beast are threatened with death. The concept of the beast and its image is often interpreted as symbols of evil and oppression in the Christian faith. This verse is seen as a warning about the dangers of blindly following wicked leaders and the consequences of not remaining faithful to one's beliefs. It serves as a reminder for believers to stay vigilant and resist evil forces, even in the face of persecution and death.

Theological Overview

One theological interpretation of the verse where it is mentioned that the beast had the power to give life to its image, enabling it to speak and enforce worship under the threat of death, can be seen as a representation of the ultimate deception orchestrated by evil forces. This imagery symbolizes a false sense of power and authority that seeks to rival the divine power of God. Through this manipulation, the beast seeks to deceive and coerce individuals into worshipping it, ultimately leading them away from the true worship of God. This interpretation serves as a warning against the allure of false idols and the consequences of succumbing to their deceitful tricks. It emphasizes the importance of discerning the true source of power and remaining steadfast in faith even in the face of persecution and threats.

American Standard Version
