Book of Numbers - Chapter 26 - Verse 10

26:10
And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up together with Korah, when that company died, what time the fire devoured two hundred and fifty men: and they became a sign.

Meaning

When the earth opened up and swallowed Korah and his followers, it was a dramatic display of God's power and judgment. Korah had rebelled against Moses and Aaron, questioning their authority and seeking to take control himself. This act of defiance led to a tragic end for Korah and his followers, as the ground literally opened up beneath them and they were consumed by the earth. The fire that devoured the 250 men who were part of Korah's rebellion served as a reminder of the consequences of disobedience and rebellion against God's chosen leaders. This event became a sign, a warning to others of the dangers of challenging God's authority and the leadership He has established. It was a demonstration of the seriousness of sin and the swift judgment that can come upon those who choose to go against God's will.
