15:9
Then shall he bring with a bullock a meat offering of three tenth deals of flour mingled with half an hin of oil.

Meaning

This verse from the book of Leviticus in the Bible describes a specific type of offering that was to be brought to the Lord. The offering mentioned here consists of a bullock (young bull) along with a meat offering made of three tenth deals of flour mixed with half a hin of oil. In ancient Hebrew culture, this type of offering was significant because it symbolized the act of giving back to God a portion of what was received. The bullock symbolized strength and sacrifice, while the flour and oil represented provision and sustenance. By presenting this offering, individuals were showing their gratitude and dedication to the Lord. The act of offering sacrifices was an important way for the Israelites to show their love and obedience to God, as well as seek forgiveness and atonement for their sins. This verse serves as a reminder of the importance of giving back to God and acknowledging His provision in our lives.

Theological Overview

In this verse, the mention of bringing a bullock as a meat offering with a specific measurement of flour mingled with oil holds theological significance. The act of offering sacrifices in the Old Testament was an essential part of worship and obedience to God. The bullock was often seen as a valuable sacrifice, symbolizing the cost of sin and the need for atonement. The three tenth deals of flour speak to the importance of precision and careful preparation when presenting an offering to the Lord. The mixing of flour with oil was a way to ensure that the offering was pleasing to God, as oil was often associated with anointing and consecration.
