Book of Luke - Chapter 18 - Verse 17

18:17
Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.

Meaning

When Jesus spoke the words "Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein," He was highlighting the importance of having childlike qualities such as humility, trust, and faith in order to enter into the kingdom of God. Children are known for their innocence, simplicity, and unquestioning belief in the things they are taught. In the same way, Jesus is emphasizing that in order to receive the blessings and benefits of God's kingdom, one must approach it with a childlike heart and mindset.

By using the analogy of a child, Jesus is teaching his followers that they must come to God with a sense of wonder, openness, and dependence, much like a child would come to their parent. This verse serves as a reminder that in order to truly experience the kingdom of God, one must let go of pride, skepticism, and self-reliance, and instead approach God with humility, trust, and a willingness to learn and receive His love and grace.

Thus, this verse serves as a call to all believers to let go of worldly concerns and attitudes, and instead embrace the simplicity and purity of heart that characterizes children. By doing so, one can truly receive the kingdom of God and experience the abundant blessings and joy that come with it.
