And they shall no more offer their sacrifices unto devils, after whom they have gone a whoring. This shall be a statute for ever unto them throughout their generations.

Meaning

This verse from Leviticus 17:7 reflects the importance of abstaining from worshipping false gods and idols. In ancient times, many cultures would offer sacrifices to various deities they believed had power over different aspects of their lives. However, the Bible condemns such practices, warning against following after these false gods and engaging in idolatry. The language of "whoring" used in the verse emphasizes the seriousness of straying from the one true God and committing spiritual adultery by worshiping idols. The statute mentioned in this verse serves as a permanent reminder for the Israelites to stay faithful to God and not be swayed by the temptations of false gods. By following this commandment throughout the generations, the Israelites were able to preserve their faith and uphold the covenant with God. This verse serves as a powerful message for believers today to stay steadfast in their devotion to God and avoid any form of idol worship or spiritual infidelity.
