Meaning

Within this verse, we see the distribution of land assigned to the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and Manasseh on the eastern side of the Jordan River. Bezer, located in the wilderness, was given to the tribe of Reuben. This area provided a place of refuge and protection for those in need. Ramoth in Gilead was designated for the tribe of Gad, serving as an important city strategically located on the border with the Ammonites. Lastly, Golan in Bashan was allotted to the tribe of Manasseh, offering a fertile land for agriculture and settlement. These assignments were part of the overall division of the Promised Land among the tribes of Israel, ensuring each group had a portion of land to call their own and cultivate for their sustenance and prosperity.
