Book of Jeremiah - Chapter 6 - Verse 15

6:15
Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among them that fall: at the time that I visit them they shall be cast down, saith the LORD.

Meaning

This verse from the book of Jeremiah in the Old Testament reflects the prophet Jeremiah's condemnation of the people of Judah for their lack of shame and repentance in the face of their sins and abominations. The people's behavior had become so sinful that they no longer felt ashamed of their actions, and had lost the ability to blush, symbolizing a complete lack of remorse or moral conscience. As a result, the Lord declares that those who have abandoned all sense of shame and morality will ultimately face the consequences of their actions. They will fall among those who have also strayed from the path of righteousness and will be cast down at the time of the Lord's visitation, facing judgment for their sins. This verse serves as a warning against the dangers of ignoring one's conscience and becoming desensitized to sin, emphasizing the importance of repentance and humility before the Lord.
