Meaning

The verse "And now have I given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant; and the beasts of the field have I given him also to serve him." can be found in the book of Jeremiah in the Old Testament. In this verse, God is speaking to the prophet Jeremiah and informing him that He has given all the lands into the hands of Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon. Despite Nebuchadnezzar being a pagan king, God refers to him as "my servant" because he unknowingly fulfills God's plans by carrying out His will. God's sovereignty and control over all nations and rulers is emphasized in this verse, showing that even those who do not acknowledge Him are subject to His authority. By giving Nebuchadnezzar dominion over the lands and the beasts of the field, God demonstrates His power and ability to work through earthly rulers to bring about His purposes. This verse serves as a reminder of God's ultimate authority and the fulfillment of His divine plans through both willing and unwilling participants.

In this verse, the theological interpretation centers around the concept of God's sovereignty and authority over all nations and creatures. The verse highlights the idea that God, the ultimate ruler of the universe, can use even pagan kings like Nebuchadnezzar for His purposes. Despite Nebuchadnezzar's status as a king of Babylon, God refers to him as "my servant," indicating that he is being used as an instrument in God's plan.
