Book of Isaiah - Chapter 19 - Verse 16

19:16
In that day shall Egypt be like unto women: and it shall be afraid and fear because of the shaking of the hand of the LORD of hosts, which he shaketh over it.

Meaning

In this verse from the book of Isaiah, the comparison between Egypt and women serves to illustrate the vulnerability and fear that Egypt will experience in the face of God's power. Just as women are often portrayed as gentle and delicate, Egypt is depicted as being weak and afraid in the presence of the Lord. The imagery of God shaking his hand over Egypt symbolizes his authority and power, causing Egypt to tremble in fear. This verse highlights the belief that God's will and might are supreme, and even the most powerful nations will be brought to their knees in awe of his greatness. It serves as a reminder of the consequences of going against God's will and the fear that can arise from facing his judgment. Ultimately, this verse emphasizes the importance of humility and obedience in the presence of a higher power.
