Book of Isaiah - Chapter 19 - Verse 14

19:14
The LORD hath mingled a perverse spirit in the midst thereof: and they have caused Egypt to err in every work thereof, as a drunken man staggereth in his vomit.

Meaning

This verse from the book of Isaiah describes how the Lord has allowed a perverse spirit to influence the people of Egypt, leading them astray and causing them to stumble in their actions, similar to a drunken man staggering in his own vomit. This imagery conveys the idea of moral and spiritual decay, where the people of Egypt have become disoriented and misled in their ways. The Lord's intervention in this manner serves as a warning of the consequences of turning away from Him and following paths that lead to destruction. This verse reminds readers of the importance of staying aligned with God's principles and not allowing perversity to cloud their judgment and actions. It is a powerful message about the dangers of straying from the righteous path and the need to seek guidance from the Lord in all endeavors.
