The tabernacle was a portable tent used as a sanctuary for the Israelites during their journey in the wilderness. These elements were significant in the religious practices of the Israelites, symbolizing the presence of God and providing for the needs of the priests who served in the tabernacle. Theological Overview

In this verse, the author of Hebrews refers to the tabernacle in the Old Testament, which was a portable sanctuary where God dwelt among His people. The tabernacle was divided into two main sections: the Holy Place and the Most Holy Place. The Holy Place contained the candlestick, representing the light of God's presence, the table for showbread, symbolizing God's provision, and the altar of incense, signifying the prayers of the people. The Most Holy Place housed the Ark of the Covenant, representing God's presence and covenant with His people. The tabernacle served as a foreshadowing of Christ, who would come to dwell among us, bringing light, provision, and atonement for sins. By calling the tabernacle the sanctuary, the author emphasizes its sacredness and the presence of God within its walls.
