Book of Genesis - Chapter 19 - Verse 14

19:14
And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the LORD will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law.

Meaning

Lot went out to speak to his sons-in-law, who had married his daughters, warning them of the impending destruction of the city by the hand of the LORD. However, his warning fell on deaf ears as they perceived him as mocking or joking about the impending doom. This reaction from his sons-in-law showcased their disbelief and lack of faith in the warning Lot conveyed to them. Despite his efforts to save them from the impending judgment, they did not take him seriously and ultimately faced the consequences of their disbelief. This verse serves as a reminder of the importance of heeding warnings and having faith in the words spoken by those sent to deliver messages from God. It also highlights the consequences of not taking heed of divine warnings and the need for faith and obedience in times of crisis.
