Book of Ezekiel - Chapter 7 - Verse 27

7:27
The king shall mourn, and the prince shall be clothed with desolation, and the hands of the people of the land shall be troubled: I will do unto them after their way, and according to their deserts will I judge them; and they shall know that I am the LORD.

Meaning

This verse speaks of the consequences that the king, prince, and people of the land will face for their actions. The king, typically a symbol of authority and power, will mourn, indicating a time of great sorrow and distress. The prince, who is expected to lead and protect the people, will be clothed with desolation, representing a state of ruin and devastation surrounding him. The hands of the people will be troubled, signifying a period of unrest and difficulty for the entire community.

God declares that He will judge them according to their ways and their deserts, meaning that their actions and behaviors will determine the consequences they face. This serves as a reminder that there are repercussions for our choices and actions, and that God is just in His judgment. Through these consequences, the people will come to know that the Lord is the ultimate authority and will realize the importance of following His ways.
