Book of Ezekiel - Chapter 28 - Verse 14

28:14
Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.

Meaning

This verse from Ezekiel 28 is often interpreted as a description of the fall of Lucifer, who was once a high-ranking angel in heaven. The phrase "Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth" implies that Lucifer held a special and honored position in God's presence. The mention of being on the holy mountain of God and walking among the stones of fire further emphasizes the exalted nature of Lucifer's original state.

However, the verse goes on to suggest that Lucifer's pride and desire for power led to his downfall. The imagery of a cherub who covers is one of protection and service, but Lucifer's ambition led him to rebel against God. This rebellion ultimately resulted in his expulsion from heaven and transformation into Satan, the adversary of God and humanity.

Overall, this verse serves as a reminder of the dangers of pride and the consequences of seeking to exalt oneself above God. It also highlights the importance of humility and obedience in the face of divine authority.
