Meaning

In this verse, God is instructing the Israelites to observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy and resting on that day. The Sabbath was given to them as a gift from the Lord, a day of rest and reflection in honor of God's creation. In preparation for the Sabbath day, God provided them with a double portion of manna on the sixth day so that they would not need to work on the seventh day. By staying in their places on the Sabbath, not going out to gather food or work, the Israelites were showing their trust and obedience to God's commandments. This verse serves as a reminder to prioritize worship, rest, and reflection on the Sabbath day, acknowledging God's provision and honoring His commandments. It teaches us the importance of setting aside time for spiritual growth and rejuvenation, as well as obedience to God's instructions.
