Theological Overview

Many theologians believe that the verse in question highlights the transformative power of God's mighty works. When Israel witnessed the great work that the Lord had done upon the Egyptians, it stirred within them a deep sense of fear and reverence for God. This moment of awe led the people to not only fear the Lord but also to believe in Him and in His appointed servant, Moses. The theological interpretation here underscores the importance of witnessing and acknowledging God's miraculous deeds as a catalyst for faith and trust in Him. Additionally, some word studies emphasize how the Hebrew word for "believe" in this verse conveys a sense of firmness and reliability. This reinforces the idea that the people's belief in the Lord was not merely superficial but based on a solid foundation of experiencing His power firsthand.
