Meaning

This verse from the book of Deuteronomy outlines the punishment for adultery in ancient Israel. It states that if a man is found sleeping with a married woman, both parties must be put to death. The reason for this severe punishment was to purge evil from the nation of Israel and maintain the sanctity of marriage. Adultery was considered a grave sin that violated the trust between spouses and threatened the stability of families and society as a whole.
