3:10
And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

Meaning

Through this verse, believers are encouraged to embrace their new identity in Christ. The phrase "put on the new man" signifies a transformation that takes place when someone becomes a follower of Jesus. This transformation involves renewing one's mind and behavior to align with the character and teachings of Christ. The renewal in knowledge refers to growing in understanding and wisdom through studying the Word of God and seeking a closer relationship with Him. By doing so, believers become more like Jesus, who is the image of God. In essence, believers are called to emulate Christ in their thoughts, words, and actions, reflecting His love, grace, and truth to the world around them. This process of renewal is ongoing and requires a continual commitment to seeking God and His ways.

Theological Overview

The theological interpretation of this verse highlights the transformative nature of the Christian life. This new man is not a mere outward change but an inner renewal of the heart and mind. The phrase "renewed in knowledge" emphasizes the importance of continual spiritual growth and maturity through the acquisition of biblical wisdom and understanding. By aligning themselves with the image of the Creator, believers are called to reflect His glory and live in accordance with His will.
