Book of 2 Samuel - Chapter 2 - Verse 1

2:1
And it came to pass after this, that David inquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up into any of the cities of Judah? And the LORD said unto him, Go up. And David said, Whither shall I go up? And he said, Unto Hebron.

Meaning

After the events that unfolded, David sought guidance from the Lord regarding his next steps. This demonstrates David's reliance on God's direction and his willingness to seek divine guidance in all matters. The act of inquiring of the Lord shows David's humility and recognition of God's sovereignty over his life. The response from the Lord to go up into the cities of Judah signifies God's approval and blessing on David's actions. When David asked where he should go up, and God directed him to Hebron, it highlights the importance of seeking specific guidance from God rather than relying on his own understanding. This verse serves as a reminder for believers to trust in God's leading and seek His will in every decision they make, just as David did in this instance.
