Book of 2 Samuel - Chapter 12 - Verse 24

12:24
And David comforted Bathsheba his wife, and went in unto her, and lay with her: and she bare a son, and he called his name Solomon: and the LORD loved him.

Meaning

When David comforted Bathsheba his wife, it marked a turning point in their relationship. Bathsheba had been the wife of Uriah, a loyal soldier in David's army whom David had sent to die in battle so he could have Bathsheba for himself. Despite this dark history, David consoled Bathsheba in her grief and they were intimate once again. This act of forgiveness and reconciliation led to the birth of their son Solomon, whom the Lord loved. The name Solomon means "peace" or "peaceful," indicating a sense of harmony and tranquility after the turmoil of their past sins. This verse serves as a reminder that even in the midst of betrayal and wrongdoing, God's love and grace can bring about healing and renewal.
