21:9
But they hearkened not: and Manasseh seduced them to do more evil than did the nations whom the LORD destroyed before the children of Israel.

Meaning

This verse highlights the disobedience of the people to the instructions and warnings provided by the LORD. Despite being forewarned, the people chose not to listen and instead let themselves be swayed by Manasseh, who led them into committing even greater evil than the nations that the LORD had previously destroyed. This signifies a dangerous turning point for the people, as they are not only participating in sinful behavior but are also surpassing the wickedness of those who were deemed unworthy by the LORD. Therefore, this verse serves as a cautionary tale about the consequences of ignoring divine guidance and falling into the temptations of corruption and immorality. It also underscores the importance of remaining faithful and steadfast in the face of adversity, as straying from the path of righteousness can lead to dire repercussions for individuals and communities alike.
