22:50
And Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father: and Jehoram his son reigned in his stead.

Meaning

After a long and prosperous reign, King Jehoshaphat of Judah passed away and was buried in the city of David alongside his ancestors. This verse signifies the end of Jehoshaphat's time as king and the beginning of a new era as his son, Jehoram, ascended to the throne. In ancient Israelite culture, being "buried with his fathers" was a significant honor, symbolizing continuity and legacy within the royal lineage. The transition of power from father to son was a common practice in monarchies of that time, ensuring stability and a sense of order within the kingdom. As Jehoram took over as king, the people of Judah would look to him to continue the traditions and leadership established by his father, Jehoshaphat. This verse serves as a reminder of the cyclical nature of leadership and the importance of upholding the values and legacy of those who came before.
