Theological Overview

In this verse, the phrase "not at the first" has been the subject of theological interpretation. Some scholars believe that this refers to the initial failure of the people to seek God when they encountered difficulties. The concept of seeking God "after the due order" suggests that there is a proper way to approach and seek God's help. This could imply that the people failed to follow the correct order of seeking God first before taking matters into their own hands, which led to the breach that was made upon them. The word "breach" here can also be studied further in its original Hebrew context to understand the severity and implications of the situation. Overall, this verse highlights the importance of seeking God first and aligning oneself with His will in order to avoid consequences such as breaches or setbacks in life.

American Standard Version
